How are health problems related to our emotions
Is there a connection between our emotions and the state of our body? “The greater the sum of negative emotions and worries, the higher the chance of getting sick.” Pavel Evdokimenko about the connection between emotions and our health.
“It’s strange, he was a normal doctor, he spoke about diseases and explained how to treat them. And then he suddenly started talking about emotions. But what do they have to do with health if emotions are not material? ”, - such a comment was once left by a viewer under a video of a rheumatologist, academician and writer Pavel Evdokimenko.
In his books and videos, Evdokimenko often talks about the connection between emotions and human diseases. According to the academician, heredity, bad habits, ecology are not at all the main cause of various ailments. At least 70% of all diseases are the result of strong worries, Dr. Evdokimenko says.
On the pages of his books, he provides evidence that, from a scientific point of view, our emotions are just the same material. He talks about what emotions are the most dangerous for our health, and gives recommendations on how to avoid many of the dangers.
How do our negative emotions affect our body? Daily worries and stress overload our nervous system. Such an overload can disrupt the transmission of nerve impulses from the brain to the organs - as a result, their work is disrupted. Worries also affect the production of hormones, which also negatively affects our body.
It must be understood that these changes may not occur so rapidly, so the connection between emotions and health seems to us not so obvious. However, each of us must have felt this connection at least once in a lifetime. When you are very excited, for example, your body may shiver on its own, or you may feel nauseous. When a person is angry or ashamed, redness on the skin gives him out.
In such situations, a person understands that in this way his body reacted to an emotion. But for some reason, only few people think about the fact that prolonged exposure to negative emotions has a more serious effect on us, causing various ailments.
Ancient healers spoke about the connection between emotions and diseases. In the view of the ancient healers of China, the connection between the soul of a person and his body is quite strong. Emotions here were associated with one or another organ, and anger was considered the most destructive emotion for the body.
From the standpoint of ancient Tibetan medicine, anger, ignorance (a person's ignorance of his nature) and passion (for gain, material wealth, career growth, etc.) were also the most destructive emotions. In Indian culture, healers also healed the body along with the spirit.
Later, the body began to be separated from the soul. This is where the idea arose that our emotions are not connected with the diseases of the body. However, in our time, more and more researchers and scientists are declaring a connection between emotions and diseases.
As a result great research work, Franz Alexander found in the middle of the last century, that at least six diseases have psychological basis. Nowadays, the scientists have proved that more than a hundred malaises have psychological basis.
The question arises, if negative emotions are so harmful to our body, why did nature come up with them? Dr. Evdokimenko divides emotions into natural and unnatural. The first group includes anger, rage, fury. These are emotions that help to survive in the wild. If the forces are approximately equal, the more violent and courageous opponent has more chances to win.
What helps us save life in the wild not only interferes and also harms in our modern habitual life.
What happens to our body if we sit at work and get angry at the boss or at one of the family members? There is anger, there is a release of the stress hormone, but there is no fight, as in the wild. The fight didn't happen. A person does not run away, does not save himself from anyone. And these hormones that were released, they did not find discharge.
This is one of the main problems of modern person. If we learned to discharge emotions, then perhaps stress hormones would not have such a harmful effect on our body.
Dr. Evdokimenko refers to unnatural emotions feelings of resentment, guilt, censure, envy, despondency. However, no matter which group negative emotions belong to, they can all lead to serious diseases.
According to Dr. Evdokimenko, many of the ailments make themselves felt with age. This is explained simply: the older a person is, the less his ability to rejoice, and the stronger the habit of getting annoyed for any reason, worrying about everything, getting angry at situations and people.
“The majority of health problems are the result of strong negative emotions or worries. The higher the sum of negative emotions and worries, the higher is the risk to get sick. This rule applies automatically, regardless of whether you have a reason for worries or not.”
How can you reduce the danger from negative emotions to your health?
As already mentioned, Dr. Evdokimenko believes that it is better for our health to splash out negative emotions. However, in this case, sooner or later we run the risk of being alone if we give vent to our negative emotions.
According to the scientist, most often our tendency to negative emotions is a habit that we “brought up” from childhood on the example of the behavior of our relatives and acquaintances. It's not easy, but habits can be changed. To do this, you need to learn how to control your emotions. Of course, it should be understood that the change of habits occurs gradually and requires conscious work from us.
When doing this work, you need to remember that first of all you help yourself and your health. When a person or situation causes you negative emotions, you can either change the situation or change your attitude towards it. The worst way to go here is to choose a state of oppression and remain in the same unfavorable position.
